Serving The Entire State of Florida

Ted Marrero has lived in Orlando since 1971. He is the son of Cuban immigrants who came to this country in the 1950’s. He was born in New Jersey but raised in Orlando, graduating from Bishop Moore High School, University of Florida and finally Nova University Law School in 1989. While in law school, he clerked for Gunther and Whitaker, a prestigious insurance defense firm in Ft. Lauderdale, and worked as a Legal Intern for the Attorney General’s Consumer Protection division, prosecuting Ponzi schemes and other white collar criminal enterprises in Miami.

Ted started his legal career as a prosecutor working for Lawson Lamar, the State Attorney for the Ninth Judicial Circuit (Orange and Osceola counties). As a prosecutor he tried over 60 jury trials, covering everything from DUI’s to homicide. In 1992 he received a Commendation from the City of Orlando for the successful prosecution of a notorious drug trafficker and slumlord, Bob Harmon.

In 1992, he married fellow prosecutor Kim Gibbs, and by 1996 they had two children. Following the birth of their second child, Ted left the State Attorney’s Office to pursue a career in criminal defense. Within a year Kim had left to start Marrero & Gibbs, a criminal defense law firm. For nearly eight years, Ted handled hundreds of major criminal cases, including Homicide, Sex cases, Racketeering and Drug Trafficking in both State and Federal Courts. In 2002, Ted ran for Circuit Court Judge in Orlando. Although he did not win the post, he ran an exemplary campaign and received the endorsement of the Orlando Sentinel.

Since 2003, Ted has enlarged his practice to include personal injury and products liability cases. In 2009 he founded Marrero Ramos, a firm offering a variety of consumer-oriented services including personal injury, criminal defense, bankruptcy, immigration and foreclosure defense. In 2010 he also joined forces with an old law school friend, Alan Levine, and became Of Counsel to Addiction Recovery Legal Services handling Marchman Act cases throughout Central Florida.
